Day 36 ( First Lab Session )

Hmm.. today is my first lab session in Dong-A University!! Was hoping to do it well the first time of course..haha.. but then it turn out a little disappointing.. haha.. because i don't have to do a single thing.. eh..

Something similar to NTU Different chemicals on display.. hmm.. it's really easily accessible..

And this is the lab! See so many books!
And the place is messy.. no place to even put my bags! And the place is not very clean as well.. lol..
Hmm.. they also use products from the Invitrogen company!
A senior testing us.. haha.. and we're in the incubator room for the plants! Btw, the light in the incubator closes automatically when the sun goes down.. this is the simulate the day and night. Interesting isn't it?
First you grow the seedlings.. and when the target area ( i.e. the embryo ) is visible, insert the DNA into the target area..

And when shoots develops!!When the shoots are developed, we will transfer them into another medium.. preferably one with a higher amount of auxin to induce root formation?

And i guess this controls the light?

This is the medium waiting to be autoclaved. Yes.. i'm not wrong.. the medium, together with the glassware, is going to be autoclaved together.. eh.. i was still wondering if the chemicals inside would change it's chemical properties after the autoclave session.. haha.. but they said only hormones are not autoclaved.. like auxin and cytokinin.. they will be added later~

Nevertheless, urine also must autoclave..

The phD student was teaching.. ( i.e. the one in blue )
And my naughty classmate took my camara and shot me while i'm measuring the agar powder!! HUMPH! Also in the lab, we student don't have to use brain one.. the seniors and phD student just demonstrate everything.. we just try if we want.. see? I'm not even in my lab coat ( still inside my bag ).. really an easy session.. LOL!!!
And seriously, i saw the senior ( the girl we saw teaching in the incubator ) washing the spatule in the medium we're using for the experiment.. *DIAO* super duper the not accurate lo! And it's like anyhow sia.. lol..

Measuring the pH of the solution
Adding NaOH to increase the pH or add HCL to decrease the pH to 5.4
Saw a PCR machine!
This is really unexpected.. i never expect myself to wear slipper IN LAB.. and we are suppose to wear it.. eh.. I guess this is the only time i can do so.. in Korea.. LOL!!!

The soya bean seed. Hmm.. they kinda focus a lot in soya bean, rice etc..
Yup! and this is the phD student teaching us.. lol..

When our lessons ended, i can see that our university is having a celebration!! Even up till now ( 10 pm already ), i can still hear the microphone going on.. *GLUP*

And i guess i'm part of the decoration as well.. a brown shit.. yes.. it's shit.. not shirt..

Today is really an easy day for me.. haha.. but i still feel a little tired.. :) tomorrow i'm going to chiong and i hope everything will be safe and sound!!
