Yongdusan Park covers a total area of approximately 70,000 square meters. It is approximately 50 meters above sea level at its highest point. Among the attractions in the park are Busan Tower, Flower Clock, Balgakjeong (Eight Angled Pavilion), Oceanarium, Statue of General Yi Sunshin who was a great commander during Joseon Dynasty.
Lots of seniors around..

They are really furious creatures.. i'm scared of them u know? They're not afraid of you and will fly to whatever location where there are food..

Admiral Yi, a partiotic national hero.
Admiral Yi, was born in Seoul April 28th by the lunar calender in the first year of King Injong's reign ( 1545 A.D. ) In the nineth year of Kind Seonjo's reign ( 1576 A.D. ), he passed the State-run Qualifying Examination for Army Officers and was apppointed Naval Commander of ChollaEast Distract one year before the Japanese invasion.
The next year, in 1592, when Japan launched a large scale assault ( Imjin Waeran ), Admiral Yi repelled the Japanses naval forces courageously and squarely in battles fought in such places as Okpo, Sacheon, Danghangpo, Hansando, Angolpo, Uncheon and Busan. He succeed in containing further naval invasion, thereby securing complete command in the South Sea. He was then promoted to Naval Commander of the Three Southern Provinces.
His prescient mind never ceased to work even after dirving out the Japanese invaders. he put his effort into navel force training, armament expansion, refugee rehabilitation and agricultural promotion. Later in 1597, Admiral Yi totally frustrated Japan's second attempt to invade this country ( Jeongyu Jaeran ) by repulsing its naval forces off Noryangjin. The next ear, however, whle chasing the retreating enemy fleet, he was mortally wounded and died a heroic death on his flagship. It was Novermber 11th by the lunar calendar.
A man of integrity and courage, Admiral Yi won every battle he fought during the last 7 years of his life. His patriotic mind, bravery, and superb military strategy were vital in saving this country from the Japanese invasion. Also a man of letters, he left behind such excellent literary works as Nanjung llgi ( A Wartime Diary ), Shijo ( A Collection of Poems ) , etc.
This statue was built to symbolize our respect and admiration for this great Admiral as well as to teach coming generations to cherish and learn from his patriotic deeds.
